About
Tomohiro Tachi is Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo, heading the Tachi Lab dedicated to computational origami and deployable structures. He is the creator of Origamizer — an algorithm for constructing origami from arbitrary 3D polyhedral meshes — and Rigid Origami Simulator, tools that have become standard in the computational origami community. His work is unique in spanning rigorous mathematical theory (discrete differential geometry, kinematics) and direct physical making. He has won the Hans-Werner Henze prize at the Bridges Conference and presented at the International Meeting of Origami Science.
